Plymouth is perhaps not well known for student television these days, but a cursory glance at the annals of NaSTA's past throws up an interesting and unfamiliar name.

SUTV, from the University of Plymouth, first appeared around 1970, and hosted the NaSTA conference in 1984.

The imaginatively named Student Union Television played a big part in NaSTA's early years, before sinking beneath the waves in Plymouth harbour. Now STAN are asking - who were the people that ran this curious station? And where are those alumni now?

Meet Ben Croucher, @lsumedia alumnus and @bbcsport and @bbc5live broadcast journalist.

After graduating and working in local radio, Ben made the move to Manchester to work for BBC Sport and Radio 5 Live. He used the skills he picked up in student television to make the transition to TV.

Dom will take over from Kayleigh Edwards, who has served a 3-year term with enthusiasm, diligence and calm authority, overseeing an amazing period of growth for the Network. 👏

My 'official' personal highlight from doing student TV was helping the station get started with live streaming, but in truth my best memories from that time involved hanging about in the Union bar with the friends I'd made through being involved in student media.
