We are excited to launch our first mentoring scheme, creating a fantastic opportunity for current students and recent graduates to learn from our growing alumni network. Why apply?
For mentors, it's a really meaningful way of volunteering and giving back to the Student TV community. As we suggest that mentors and mentees meet once a month and it can all be conducted online, it's not hard to fit into the diary. Both mentors and mentees are bound to learn a lot!For mentees, you'll benefit from one-to-one careers advice, support and guidance over a 6-month period.
How does the scheme work?
Members of the STAN committee will endeavour to match mentees with mentors based on their interests and aspirations. Mentees will be introduced via email to their mentors and then it is up to the mentor and mentee to sort out the parameters of their mentoring agreement.STAN advises mentees meet with their mentor (in-person or virtually) at least once a month. We recommend between 1 - 2 hours of contact per month, depending on your mentor's availability.
How long does the scheme last?
The scheme will be for 6 months. However once the formal mentoring period has ended, you and your mentor can decide to stay in touch.
Am I eligible?
Mentees - Anyone applying as a mentee must currently be, or have been a member of a NaSTA-affiliated station. We suggest that you apply as a mentee if you have less than 3-years of professional experience within the media industryMentors - Anyone applying as a mentor should have more than 3-years of professional experience within the media industry.
