Awards Season Is Here!

It's our favourite time of year again - the NaSTA Conference is just around the corner. This year's event, hosted by Sonar Events in Southampton from 4th-6th April, will see stations descend from across the country for a weekend of networking, learning and awarding. And possibly a bit of fun as well. STAN is honoured to be judging this year's Event Coverage, assembling a crack team to decide the winner. Matt Robinson (Quays TV), Jonathan Bufton (YSTV) and Selin Izzet (Nerve TV) drained several cups of tea whilst pouring through the entries. Find out who won live at the awards ceremony or via the online stream.

Alumni Judges

Take a look at this year's judges for the NaSTA Awards, and you'll find it hard to miss a few familiar faces. Proof that our alumni community is full of people looking to give back to student television. We caught up with a few alumni who had the honour of judging this year's awards.

Kieron Moore (YSTV) Writing

I was delighted to be invited back to judge the Best Writing category again this year. The entries covered the gamut from comedy to drama, short films to non-fiction, and displayed a number of promising young talents. I hope that everyone who entered, however well the awards night goes for them, keeps on writing, honing their skills, and sharing their creativity with the world.

Nailah Clair Blissett (GUST) Documentary and Factual

It was my absolute pleasure to watch and judge the incredible Documentary and Factual entries for NaSTA this year! It’s absolutely amazing to see how many of these entries are so close to industry-standard programming! And It’s such a joy to witness the awards continue to support and showcase such incredible talent.

Alex Goldsmith (Forge TV) On-Screen Talent

I've really enjoyed reconnecting with student television through NaSTA. It's reminded me of how formative and important ForgeTV was in developing my skills and giving me a space to make mistakes and learn from them. I've seen the same energy and drive from all of this year's entries for on-screen talent and I've loved judging each entry.

STAN Early Careers Panel

In what is now an anual tradition, STAN will present a session at the NaSTA Conference in Southampton. Hosted by Dan Orton (XTV), the panel discussion will be aimed at early career advice, and will feature recently graduated alumni sharing their experiences.

The CV Clinic is Open

Brand New for 2025 - STAN is bringing the CV Clinic to Southampton. Students have the chance to submit their CV, and see it assessed by industry professionals and our alumni community. We will provide in-person feedback and guidance. If only this was around 15 years ago!
